The shelf-company: definition and features

The term shelf-company describes a company which has already been established, but´which is not carrying out any business activity yet.

The company has been established for the aim only to be further sold on.

Purchasing a shelf-company has some advantages:

  • The company alredy exists and can be transferred and used in a speedy way.
  • The company already has a bank account and no time is lost for setting this up.
  • The purchase and transfer of a shelf-company can be process from abroad (only Power of Attorney and attestation through the German Consulate needed).

The disadvantage of purchasing a shelf-company lies in the fact that the purchase price is ca. 3000 € higher than of which is needed for establishing a fresh company.
