What is a job seeker visa?

A job seeker visa is a category D-visa that can be applied for by university degree holders to offer them the possibility to look for a job in Germany.

Instead of directly applying for a Blue Card, foreign post-graduates also have the possibility to apply for a job seeker visa, which then allows them to travel to Germany to personally look for a job opportunity.

A job seeker visa will be issued for a maximum of 6 months with limited extension possibilities from Germany.

A job seeker visa includes the possibility to work in Germany, but limited to 10 hrs./ week.  Any work beyond this needs the approval of the Germany authorities. Also, Freelancer of Self-Employment activity is not allowed unless specifically approved by the Germany authorities.

Please do not hesitate to contact us, if you need additional information or support before filing an application.
